How to remove semi-permanent varnish?

When your nails have grown back a lot or because your job does not allow you to wear fake nails, removal is often necessary and this step is crucial to avoid damaging your nails. Depending on the material used, the removal method will also be different.

If you wear permanent varnish, this step is within everyone’s reach. To do this, you will need:

  • buffing block or a soft file with 180 or 240 grit
  • Cosmetic acetone or a gel polish remover

The first step is to mattify the existing application to facilitate the absorption of the acetone. You should use the file or block and go back and forth on the nail until you get a matte nail without any shiny parts.

If you are skilled, an electric nail file will greatly improve your efficiency.

Then apply a remover or cosmetic acetone on a cotton pad or in a manicure bowl and let the solution act until the varnish is dissolved and it comes off your natural nail effortlessly.

You can finish your removal by shortening your natural nails and applying cuticle oil to moisturize.
